MISSING CANEEL BAY? HERE’S SOMETHING SPECIAL TO HOLD YOU OVER…

Have you been missing Caneel Bay Resort on St. John? Us too.

The island isn’t the same without this iconic resort being open. It’s been a longtime favorite retreat of St. John newbies and loyalists alike. So many of us have made memories there to last a lifetime.

We’re so fortunate to be able to operate out of one of the property’s most beautiful beaches, Honeymoon Beach. While you still cannot currently stay at the resort or wander its grounds, you can visit the signature white sand beach for the day and soak, swim, and snorkel in those crystal clear Caneel Bay waters.

We also have a Caneel Bay Kayak, Hike, & Snorkel Tour available if you’d like to explore a bit further beyond Honeymoon Beach.

We’re excited to share that Caneel Bay Resort now has an online shop to help with your nostalgia. They’ve filled it with logo wear and other island gear that Caneel Bay lovers are sure to appreciate. Our favorite? It’s hard to choose, but it may just be this vintage travel poster:

Visit their shop and take a look around. Seeing that familiar logo is sure to tug on your heartstrings!

For those of you who have been asking if and when the resort will be rebuilt and reopened, here’s an update from a resort representative:

“I am optimistic that we will shortly be sharing some positive news regarding the plans to rebuild Caneel Bay Resort. We wish to reassure our loyal followers that Laurance Rockefeller’s philosophy of protecting the environment and supporting the local community, will remain front and center of all our plans. We look forward to engaging with the National Park Service, Territorial Administration and local organizations to celebrate the culture, heritage and cuisine of St. John and to introduce the Resort to a new generation of discerning guests.”

In the meantime, we hope this brings some Caneel Bay island vibes into your world. Happy shopping!

If you’ve been to St. John in the US Virgin Islands, you’ve likely encountered the wild donkeys around the island. Whether they approached you on the beach, strolled up to your Jeep’s window, or clip-clopped alongside you while shopping in Mongoose Junction, you were likely charmed by the presence of such a surprising farm animal on our little island. Because we’ve been posting a bunch of fun donkey videos lately over on our Facebook and Instagram accounts (if you’re not already following us, be sure to go and join in on the fun!), we thought we’d share a few fun details about the island’s donkey population.

The US Virgin Islands are a great place for both beginner and experienced snorkelers. The waters tend to be calm, clear, and warm year round, and there are many places where you can see an abundance of reef and marine life in relatively shallow waters. We love helping visitors experience the magic of the underwater world, and we have guided snorkeling tours and snorkel gear rentals available on all three islands: St. Thomas , St. John , and St. Croix . In order to best appreciate our waters and have a wonderful time while you’re “under the sea,” here are a few USVI snorkeling safety tips to keep in mind:

Here’s a hot take I have for the US Virgin Islands: Everyone should take a guided snorkel tour at least a couple of times, no matter how many times they’ve been snorkeling here before. I know, I know… you’ve already snorkeled here. Why would going with a guide change anything when you already know how to snorkel? Why do you need someone to accompany you when you already have a fish identification card and rented snorkel gear so you can go by yourself?

Unless you don’t use social media and/or haven’t done any research about visiting the US Virgin Islands, you’ve likely heard of and seen plenty of pictures and videos of Lime Out , the floating taco bar off the island of St. John. It’s hard to miss all of their amazing viral videos. Nothing snags your attention like seeing people hanging out on floating couches being served up delicious tacos in the middle of a bay in the Caribbean. You see it, and you instantly start dreaming of being there. Admit it: It happened to you, too. ;) So if you’ve got a trip planned to the USVI and are wondering if you should add a trip to Lime Out to your itinerary (short answer: definitely yes ), then here’s everything you need to know.
